Hazel

UPDATE May 14.  We were going to run Hazel today but she got spayed yesterday.  This is a friendly husky that would love to be a pet.  If she isn't adopted within a couple of weeks we will get her out to run.

We all LOVE Hazel.  She is an incredibly social and personable girl.  We will run her soon.  I bet she would make a great pet/running companion too.

Delores

Update May 14.  We ran Delores in an 8 dog team on a warm morning.  She did great.  She could loose a few pounds and got very tired but she runs nicely and likes to go.  She would make a good addition to a slower recreational team.  Delores is on house F.

Delores came in with Phoebe from a kennel that is downsizing.  Both of the girls are chunky and could use some good exercise.  They are both a bit shy but mellow and calm. Deena is 6 years old.  We will run them soon.

Zane

Zane came in as a stray from I believe Chena Hot Springs Road.  He is shy but really wants to warm up to you.  He has an old build and wide set eyes so it will be interesting to see how he runs.  He is on house A and seems quite young.

Deena

Update  Deena was adopted.

Update May 14.  We ran Deena in an 8 dog team.  She did great.  She is a long legged lanky girl who is quite shy.  She is one of these plug in dogs that we almost ignored because she just did her job and did it well.  We tried her in lead but she has no confidence.  With the right person she would become an outstanding addition to a distance team.  Deena is on house E.

Denna is a shy but very very sweet dog.  We all like her.  She needs a gentle hand but I bet she would blossom in the right care.  We will run her soon.

Dradle

Update May 14  We ran Dradle in an 8 dog team on a warm morning.  He started out great but got very hot.  Then we could see his main problems.  We figure that he is probably in pain a lot of the time.  We are disappointed that the ex owner didn't write this on his kennel sheet.  This dog should probably not be a sled dog.  The ex owner said that he fights with other dogs and that he wasn't to be trusted around small children.  My guess is that this dog is in a lot of pain especially during and after a run.  I would be irritable too if I felt as bad as this dog looked.

I think Dradle might make a nice pet.  He warms up to you and likes to get petted.  But I would advice against him being a sled dog.  His back legs don't stretch out and his knees don't really move correctly.  You could just see the pain on his body and face.  If he could just run without pulling I think he would be fine.  He is on house J.

Dradle is 2 years old.  He comes from excellent bloodlines but his ex owner didn't want to feed him all summer.  He is shy and a little rough around the edges.  His coat needs some work.  We will run him soon and see how he does.

Sofie

Update May 14  Sofie is great.  She is a dog that loves to run.  Her body looks a little "short" but she ran fine and has a nice gait.  She is not a sprint dog.  She may be faster in a distance team but she mainly liked to trot along and enjoyed her work.  She likes people and other dogs.  An all around nice girl.  She is on house H.

Sofie is an older girl that loves to run.  Her ex owner says she is quite fast.  She is a very sweet girl with a lot of personality.  She doesn't like chickens though!

We will run her soon.

Token

Update May 14 Token is a very very shy dog.  But she knew all about being a sled dog.  We started her out in wheel.  She has a nice smooth gait and a nice trot.  We put her in lead and she took us all the way back to the truck.  Not with a lot of confidence and she is not used to seeing people along the trail, but she stayed out in front for us.  With a patient hand and a kind word I bet she would blossom into a more confident girl.  She gets along with all other dogs.  She is already spayed.  Token is on house  K.

Token was adopted 6 weeks ago from the shelter but was just returned because the owner said she is petrified of men.  The adopter said that Token was wonderful with her toddler (1.5 years) and friendly with other dogs but just very afraid of men.  So Token is back at the shelter and looking for a woman only home with another dog as a playmate.  We will take her out and run her soon.  Token is only about a year old.

Ruby

Update.  Ruby is in foster care.  Please check at the front desk if you are interested in her.

Ruby is a pretty little girl that is shy and petite although she is a bit overweight.  She loves to go and knows the whole routine of working in a team.  She has a nice trot and would love to please you as a pet/working dog.  She needs someone with kindness to bring her out of her shell.

Sammy

UPDATE March 31st.  Sammy was pulled into SCL and will be going to her new home in 2 weeks.  Here is a picture of her on my couch.  She is a happy girl and her new name is Tansy.

Sammy is a wonderful smaller distance husky that is personable and LOVES to run.  We had her in a 6 dog team as we harness broke Sissy and Sassy today.  We put Sassy beside her and she was incredibly tolerant of this untrained puppy.  Sammy would make a good rec/distance dog.  She likes to trot and seems to be able to go forever.  We don't know her background or what kennel she came out of but she obviously knows the ropes and is a plug in dog that would be a good addition to any team.

Strawberry

Update April 5th.  Strawberry has been adopted!  We hope she will be happy in her new home.  She touched a lot of people's hearts.

UPDATE March 31st.  Strawberry has been spayed.  She is ready to take home today!

UPDATE March 23rd.  We ran Strawberry and Kenai today in a FAST 5 dog team.  I really wanted to see what these girls could do after seeing them skijor.  We were on the 4 wheeler because of the bad trail conditions.  I had the 4 wheeler opened up and 2 of our fastest leaders up front.  Both of these girls would make great limited class sprint dogs.  They have good bloodlines (Reynolds) and although the person that turned them in said they were too slow for this team, I can't see this.  They were hard on the line even when I was going as fast as I felt comfortable!  When we turned back to the truck we put both of them in lead.  They held out the team and did great.  Although they are shy and not exposed to a lot of new things, I think they would blossom in the right care and make excellent and fast skijor dogs.

UPDATE March 17th.  I ran Strawberry and Kenai in a 3 dog skijor team.  They did great.  Kenai was in lead and although these dogs had never skijored before and they did start out looking behind a bit and being kind of afraid of the skis, after about a half mile they both never looked behind again.  They are both hard driving dogs that LOVE to run.  They are on the shy side and will need a patient hand but they both have a lot of potential with good care.  Strawberry may be pregnant so the faster we can get her adopted out the better for spaying.  She is bigger than Kenai and can really stretch out running.  The ex owner said they were too slow for his team but I figure he must have a 23 mph team because these dogs certainly have a lot of top end speed from what I could see in our 1.5 mile run.

Strawberry is a 3 yeard old pointer mix that came in with Kenai.  She is very thin and needs some TLC.  She is very sweet but needs a gentle hand.  She is very short coated so would need an insulated dog house or to live in a heated dog barn in the winter.  She has some rough spots on her coat that might be from poor care (wet straw or possibly no straw....) and what looks like some pitch on her coat from being chained near pine trees.  Just a guess.  We are planning on running her soon.  I bet she would make a great pet and skijor dog.  She is striking in her looks and has a nice pattern on her back.
